About Us
Hi! I’m Dr. Winston- an orthopedic sports physical therapist who is passionate about helping runners stay healthy and continue doing the things they love. Over the past several years I’ve worked with a wide range of patients — from recreational runners to active adults and athletes — treating orthopedic injuries, post-surgical conditions, and movement-related pain. My clinical approach blends evidence-based rehabilitation, strength training, and running mechanics to identify the underlying causes of injury and build more resilient runners.
Prior to starting this Initiative Health and Performance, I worked as a clinic director in a high-volume outpatient orthopedic practice where I gained extensive experience treating musculoskeletal injuries and mentoring other clinicians. While that experience helped shape my clinical expertise, it also reinforced something I had begun to notice across the healthcare landscape — physical therapy had moved away from the personalized, one-on-one care that first drew me to this profession.
I started Initiative Health and Performance because I believe physical therapy should be a human experience. In many traditional clinics today, therapists are expected to treat multiple patients at once while balancing productivity metrics and insurance limitations. The result is often less time, less attention, and less individualized care for the person who needs it most. Initiative Health and Performance is a return to the foundation of physical therapy: focused one-on-one care where every runner receives the time, education, and clinical expertise necessary to truly understand and solve their problem.
For the people I work with, running is more than just exercise. It’s identity, stress relief, community, and one of the most consistent ways they invest in their physical and mental health. When injury takes that away, it can feel like losing a part of daily life. My goal is simple: help runners stay healthy, build resilient bodies, and keep doing something that brings them purpose and joy.
